Kia ora,

Another newbie to the forum and to Locksport.

A couple of years ago I wanted to get into Locksport, teach my kids something fun, challenging, that required discipline and had the cool factor. Then life happened in a big way.

So now I’m back and rearing to go. I have a small set of Southord picks and an acrylic practice lock plus the old lock from our back door. It’s surprisingly scary how easy it is to rock the city rake in that lock and it pops open.

So far, I’ve watched some YouTube videos which have been more confusing than helpful, so I’m here to join the community and learn...and my kids still want me to then teach them too which is kinda awesome...assuming I learn how.

A fellow NZer (gorillapicking) and youtuber is a member here and in one of his videos he said if you’re keen to learn this forum is a must, so here I am.

Life is like a pubic hair on a toilet seat. Every once in a while, you get pissed off.

Yup, hb. Tipene is in taranaki, evl_stache and a couple of other guys are in Wellington, and swyndla the combination lock guru is in Auckland. So we're pretty thin on the ground...

I saw there used to be a group here in Dunedin with a Twitter page but it's been inactive for a couple years. was hoping to find a local who was in the know. Youtube and forum posts it is for my learning I guess.

Good to be in the company of some fellow Kiwi's nonetheless

From memory there was a model engineer group down there. They might be worth talking to, I would guess there's some overlap.
