I’m really new to this lock picking lark, started about a month ago.

I have a starter pick set (SouthOrd PXS-14). I quickly realised that the BOK torsion bars supplied with the set often get in the way, so I obtained a TOK set from Multipick).

I’ve been trying to pick several padlocks with narrow key ways which were inaccessible with the SouthOrd pick, so I have just purchased a Peterson Gem. Even after purchasing this, it might be too thick for the Euro cylinder door locks, (any recommendations)

At the moment my locking picking is a little erratic, one day I can pick a padlock the next day I struggle to open it. I’m beginning to use less pressure on the torsion bar and pick, but as yet I’m not able to feel any rotation in the torsion bar when I encounter a padlock fitted with spools. I guess I just need more practise.

Thanks for reading this.

Hi there, welcome to the forum, I suggest the Southord c2010 set, it is specially designed for euro profiles with slim shafts. I've been using my hooks from this set since I started picking.

How do :welc:

Picking is a cruel mistress, she comes and goes from day to day.

Just keep practicing and it does get a lot better.
