Hi Folks,

As per the rules I'm here to say "Hi!" to everyone.

I'm completely new to the sport of lockpicking, but having heard that a couple of colleagues dabble I figured it could be fun to try.

As per my MO I've already done some research via this and other sites and am now a happy owner of SouthOrd's C2010 set of picks. Clearly overkill for a beginner, but I learned a long time ago to (try to) only buy decent tools. I also have some transparent locks to experiment with, although I've since read some comments saying that they're best for demonstrations, not for actual practising technique.

Will ask about that in the appropriate thread. I will try not to ask too many dumb questions but I always figure it's better to ask than remain silently ignorant.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum.
Ask as many questions as you like.
We love answering questions ( makes us feel useful) and are always willing to help.
Great choice of picks for a beginner, I had those at the beginning too, but I made the mistake of buying cheap Chinese crap (twice) before buying the southords.

Hi Mark, welcome to the group. The Southord C2010 kit is in fact the perfect kit to start with as Tony says so you're clearly on the right track.

It is absolutely impossible to ask a dumb question on this board and you'll find a metric shit ton of information is here for the taking. Learn how to post pics as your first priority and then proceed to ask anything and everything you think you need to know. Also: Pisstaking is re rigeur so do not be at all surprised if people poke fun at you as well as answering questions. Feel free to give as good as you get.

Hello to you Mark (it seeems to me that there are many members called Mark on the forum). This 8 month Noob offers you a warm welcome.

As Billbobaggins says, you can ask as many questions as you wish to ask, and rest assured that the answers will come to you as thick and fast as snowflakes in a blizzard.

(btw, I have it on good authority that Billbo is 2 days older than god...)

Proud to be a picker...

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...

I'm not afraid to make mistakes, because I learn from them...

You must always remember, it's the lock that chooses the pick, not you.
