Good morning everyone.
I've always had a fascination with locks since I was a small child.
I've had a chaotic life but since I've settled down my therapist has suggested I find a hobby to help with my PTSD, Anxiety and Depression so I decided to watch 100s of YouTube videos and buy my first pick set, small vice and a few small cheap padlocks and I've been sucked in lol
My names Ron and I think I have a picking problem

Life is like a pubic hair on a toilet seat. Every once in a while, you get pissed off.

Haha very true, I'm between Stratford and Forestgate..... I know I know what a combination but it's not too bad.
Are you local?
Thank you for all the welcome messages

I took my front door cylinder out and I was shocked at how quick it took me to pick it. Makes me feel happy most people don't pick locks

What set of picks did you go for, and what locks have you picked?
You've come to the right place!

Yeah I need a few more bits and bobs still but I'll get them slowly as I go along. Being on and budget and having a hobby don't well sometimes

I think the next obstacle will be finding locks to pick but one step at a time

Too right.
There is no hurry - you just need to keep practising.
Post photos in the "what I picked today" thread and get involved in the forum. You'll get all the help you need

I will indeed! I'm going to buy a few locks over the next few weeks and then see how I get on.
It's crazy the amount of self control you need because you just want to pick everything in sight but you can't unfortunately

Hi Ron,
I am a complete beginner as well and based in SE London, so just across the river from you. I also need to get hold of some more locks other than my handful of padlocks.
Waiting for cheapish vice mk 2 to arrive (had to get a refund on the first which didn't work) to see what difference if any that makes.
I'll be interested to see how you get on.

Hey, I grew up in Kidbrooke so I know SE London very well.
I got my vice from Amazon I think it was only Β£14 it does the job so far although I'm finding I like to hold the locks in my hand while I'm watching tv or some movies and pick them while I focas on the telly.
When I get some more locks (I only have 3 at the moment) once I'm done with them I'm happy to send them out.

Thanks for the post, I've had a read but I'm not the sort of person who can just walk up to someone and start a conversation. Social anxiety is hell lol
