Hey y’all.
This is a long story.
I have worked for Los Angeles County Fire Department for 36 years. I am now retired and living in Arizona, USA. But that career gives one a mindset of being safe and prepared.

A few years back I was watching a documentary on earthquakes (Los Angeles has many earthquakes) and they were talking about all the services that would be disrupted for extended amounts of time.

So I got into being totally prepared for a major earthquake , or “prepping/prepper”. Made my wife and I 72 hour bug out bags for our cars. Learned as much as I could about being self reliant. In my prepping readings, I read a sentence that changed my path. It was,”I will not let a locked barrier stand between me and safety “.

So what did I do? Learned how to pick locks. I started out like most every one. Watch videos, join Facebook groups, ask dumb questions (I know there is no such thing) and practice practice practice! I got pretty good. Not LPL or BB good but confident good.

Well in some of the Facebook groups, I saw some mind blowing custom made picks. The artistry, the functionality and the beauty was captivating. I asked Tipene and Jason Carson a few questions about how they went about making them. They were so kind to offer any help they could.I started making them October 2018 I really enjoy making picks now. Love it! I haven’t sold one yet because 1 pick takes 12-18 hours to make. I only use hand tools.

This whole story brings me to now. I love everything locks. Presently, I am studying to be a locksmith and am a member of SOPL.

I know a lot of these names through Facebook and hope to meet more great people.
