Nothing to add here. My previous comment was aimed at the lack of etiquette rather than the question itself.
Lockpicking is pure luck but the more I practice the luckier I get.

please understand this is literally for my own curiosity. I have zero interest in Auto lock stuff, but am curious as to why it's forbidden
Because if we told you everything we know then you would drive off with the information lol - also, by holding something back we engender a mystique.

Seriously, there's enough to be talking about with pin tumblers, dimples, wafers, vids, shiney stuff we have received or picked, as well as your upcoming acting career.

Locksport and autos may share locks but they are completly differnt interests. Same thing with gutting vids and the vids that picky likes to watch. The site/forum is about LOCKSPORT and only locksport.

That said, I will compromise with you - show me a pic of a car in a vice on your kitchen table and I'll tell you how to open it (dinkies/matel don't count)
as the ocularly antipodean beringei sayeth: "Fek yer, yer feckin' fecks oil spike yers with me feckin' shiv-picks so I will"

8 is easy, no talking about car locks.

15 means stick to picking locks and you will be ok, you will learn more as you progress.

That's the spirit! :)

Bypassing is bypassing the locks main function by unlocking it in a way that a key is not needed. Non destructive and usually faster then using a key.

I'll leave this here so it doesn't get lost...

We are constantly being asked why you should not pick locks that are in use, well here is a perfect example. Not a great picture but what you are looking at is part of a hair clip or bobby pin which was being used to legitimately gain entry to a property. The metal broke off in the lock which meant that when somebody with the correct key turned up they still could not get in and had to call me to open the door and extract the offending clip.

I just realised that a couple of the rules, such as 7 and 15, say XYZ not to be discussed on the open forum. Does that mean that there's a secret, non-open forum for people of a certain stature / post level? Or is it just taken to mean -the forum-?

If you tell me it's the latter I'll assume it's like fight club... :xcool:

Dam we have been tumbled lol, been waiting years for someone to question this ;)

As you may know or have noticed we do indeed have a VIP section for members we vote in under a strict criteria, we also have an even higher level of restriction for trading locksmiths, where some discussion but still not all is allowed
Some things are for designated site only, typical example Safe entry.

Access to higher members profile are given via team members proposals and not given on request so please do not ask as a refusal often offends

1. Competitions, the person running the competition will make their own rules but unless otherwise stated you will need to have 20 posts to enter.
Can we change this to 15 "Thanks" rather than post count, please?
It ends up with people just spamming the site otherwise.
"a nice chap"
"a moron"
